How does the insurance work? Do I have to pay taxes on the income? Can I choose which cars to use? We understand you might have a lot of questions, but no worries – we’re here to be transparent and helpful every step of the way.

How does the insurance work?  ↴
— The SnappCar insurance is in effect during the rental period which was booked via our platform and when check-in was done according to the standard digital procedure. With the full casco coverage, you are extensively covered against damage, theft, and vandalism. Should damage occur during the booking then it will be handled through the insurance company Allianz. More information you can find in the Help Center.  

How is my car secured? ↴
— Only you and a renter with an accepted booking can open the car. Your car key remains safely stored and is invisible from outside the car. SnappCar Keyless uses your immobilizer as extra security. Even if there is a break-in and the key is somehow taken, the car cannot be started. You can see where your car is at any time via the App, except when there is an active booking (to protect the renter’s privacy).

How often should I check the cars for damage? ↴
— Any damage is usually noticed by the renter and reported during the check-out procedure. However, it is possible for damage to occur that is not reported. Any damage not reported during the check-out procedure can still be reported up to 48 hours after the rental period.

 

How do the platform fees work? ↴
— When you rent out your car through SnappCar, you pay a percentage of the day price as the SnappCar fee. It’s 13.5% of the day price per day. This fee goes towards maintaining the platform, supporting users, developing the app, safety checks, paying out rental earnings, sending SMS messages, resolving disputes, and acquiring renters via marketing. Do I have to pay taxes on the income? ↴
— Yes, everyone has to pay taxes. Therefore, it is advisable to check the website of the Tax Office or consult them by phone. They can provide you with all the information you need. In order to get the correct advice on your specific situation, consider consulting a tax expert on what construction is best for you and your fleet. 

Do I have control over which renters I allow? ↴
— You can pick one of the following three settings for your car:

  • “Everyone is Welcome” means anyone can instantly book your car. Excluding users with poor reviews, of course. We recommend this option to increase your bookings and maximise your earnings.
  • “City Community” means only renters within your city (or a similar distance) can instantly book your car.
  • “Nearby Neighbours” means your car can only be instantly booked by people living within your neighbourhood.

 

What are the advantages of SnappCar Keyless? ↴
— Rent out your car easily from a distance – without having to be present to hand over the key. This way, renting out is much easier as the keyless functionality takes away administration of fuel level, kilometres and handover of the key, as with one push on a button, the renter can start their rental. Due to the convenience, cars with SnappCar Keyless are much more popular with renters than regular cars. On average, cars with SnappCar Keyless are rented out about three times more often. SnappCar Keyless is a safe way to rent out your car. If something does happen during a rental period, you are well insured through the Allianz car-sharing insurance that we include as standard. To become a SnappPartner, your cars must be equipped with Keyless technology.

How does the installation work? ↴
— SnappCar Keyless can be installed for free at our partner in Amsterdam. We do have a deposit of €80, that you will receive once the system is removed.
