Fiat Punto Evo van Shermain

The owner asks to return the car clean but we received the car full of dirt. Even a tupper with food beneath the copilot seat. Of course, we are not going to clean something that we received in that way. There are some beeps and messages in the display about the engine and gas tank. But, we didn’t have problems while driving it.

To start, the owner is responsive, answers the call when needed immediately, so this review is targeted to discuss this car (Fiat Punto Evo), maybe other cars of this owner would meet expectations. I would not recommend to take this car on long trips, and me definitely I am not planning to take this Fiat again. 1. The car is not smooth, in terms of changing gears, and driving. To be honest, most of my ride was highway (230 km) and I always had to pay extra attention to the steering wheel (it is tilted slightly to the left), I am not saying that you shouldn’t pay attention but sometimes it didn’t feel fully safe when going 120km/h. 2. The 3rd gear sometimes is really hard to put + it has a very weird vibration when driving on the 3rd gear, doesn’t matter if driving on high or low rpm, but it feels like car is loosing power with intervals when pressing gas (hard to explain). And also 5th gear few times didn’t want to get put, but you just try again and it’s good. 3. Something that is not mentioned in the ad of the car (it is only mentioned that car is smooth and in a good condition, everything working) is that the electronics is fucked. When you start the car a lot of control lights come up then some beeps start, ends after some time. And some control lights disappear, some stay (like check engine light) sometimes. This is ONLY mentioned when checking in message from the owner, and he says that it is okey, he checked ans it is just electronic system, not a problem with a car. Well, I am not sure but that is just my opinion. 4. The economy of this car is completely bad, it used 10.5 l /100km on highway driving smooth, and when I mentioned that after the ride, the owner says it is normal for the car, no Shermain it is not normal for a car with 1.4 engine and no luggage only 2 people both under 100kg 😅 I am not sure what influences such a high fuel consumption, maybe it is the electronic effecting the fuel injection system, maybe the check engine light means there is an issue overall with the engine or just brakes pressure is screwed up. And message to the owner, it would be nice to mention the fuel consumption in the ad of the car, as it is not usual for this size of car. Also after I messaged the owner with that remark AFTER the ride, he told me then that the car actually has 2 tanks and you can tank CNG too. There was no information about that on the ad of the car or in the check-in message, so how could I know, if you don’t mention that before the ride? Maybe it would be more economical, but gas is not a common thing in Netherlands, so with the consideration that the whole electronic screen is showing whatever it wants (as you say), how can you trust what it shows. So another remark here, please mention when checking in or better before booking (in the ad) the fact that you can tank CNG in the car (in the ad the car is mentioned benzine) and the fuel consumption of the car. A note to the owner and possible renters. I made this extensive review and listed all details, because there is no information about any of these before you rent the car, and I think these are important notes. So my disappointment with the experience doesn’t come only because of car, but mostly that I was surprised by all these things, because Shermain did not describe them in the ad, moreover he claimed everything is good. So please mention these things. And you can’t tell me „what did you expect when renting at SnappCar an older car, you should have gone to a rental company if you want 2025 standards” 😂 I didn’t reply to that message because there was no point in discussing with such attitudes, but man you completely missed my intention and I think the idea of SnappCar. Yes there are usually older and cheaper cars, but the idea of SnappCar is to have trust for owners, the car and the rental person. There are older and normally working cars, and most of the owners here are 100% clear about all details of the car. I understand that you want to make money, but I believe you should be more descriptive in your ads, which is why I am not happy with the experience on this booking. Anyways, I hope for someone like me, my review will be helpful, I wish I could read this information, so that I could just take a different car from SnappCar for my needs. And don’t get me wrong, maybe I would take this car for a short rental period and small drive distance. However, I don’t recommend this car for a long distances, because of the fuel efficiency and I think this car might break very soon, and you ll be stranded on the highway waiting for Wegenwacht :)
